Sleep over, leg wrestling, and shenanigans!

Sunday night, Yvonne and I decided to have a sleep over with Mom. So, I packed up my stuff, and headed over for a night of fun, and silliness!

Not long after I arrived, Katelyn and Yvonne came in with bags in tow. Unfortunatly Katelyn couldn't stay the night with us, because her pug, Lola is pregnant and doesn't like to sleep alone. We aren't really sure when she will be popping the little puppies out, but we are all on call when the time comes!!

So, after a short time of gabbing, we headed down stairs and Yvonne helped Jacie and Breanna with making home made pizza's!

While the girls made some pizza, Brian and Jack played pool, and Katelyn and I sat at the kitchen island and talked (what we do best, together) and watched the pizza making process.

After the pizza was done, and we devored it, and Brian came in and said "OK, Aunt Jen its time!!." Which makes me a little nervous, when Brian says that. So I of course say "time for what?" Which he replies... "INDIAN LEG WRESTLING OF COURSE!!!"

he wasn't quite this excited, I just liked this picture!
When my sisters and I were young we often played this game called "Indaian leg wrestling." I'm pretty sure that is probably politcally incorrect, but I don't know any other name for it.

When my sisters and I played it, it wasn't very often because Yvonne, and I knew that Bobbi would always win, due to her freakish long legs!!!!

So we all head to the family room, and Brian and I lay on the floor. Now if you don't know what this game is, its when two people lay on the ground with their heads in the oppisite direction and they are hip to hip. You each raise their legs 3 times, and on the 3rd time, you interwine those legs, and try to pull the other person twords your side.

Most of the time you are laughing so hard you lose, but if you can stay in control you can take em out!!

ok, this is a little dramatic, but you get the point..
Any way, the last time I was over Yvonne and I  introduced Brian to this and I kicked his butt!! This time, he was ready and wanted a rematch. So, the first round, I took him down!! Then he was REALLY determined and the 2nd and 3rd round, he took ME down!! That was it, he declared himself champ!

Then it was Katelyn and I, and even though she got her Aunt Bobbi's freakishly long legs, I took her down. Then Yvonne took her down. Poor girl didn't have a chance!

After that, Brian drug me to the pool table room and we played a few games of pool, both of us declairing victory!

After pool, we all headed up to Mom and Dad's retreat in their room to watch the music awards, because they have a giant t.v. That was a bit of a bore, because Justin Timberlake, and Taylor Swift won EVERYTHING! Don't get me wrong I really like both of their music, but after awhile they were up on stage so many times, they ran out of people to thank!! I did however enjoy the performances, especially Imagine Dragons, they put on quite a performance! I was truely relieved that Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga toned it down some, because the kids were in the room!!

After the Music Awards were over, Yvonne and I thought that we would be heading to bed, but Brian had different plans! He was havin' a craving for strawberry shortcake ice cream! Some how he convinced his Aunie (Yvonne) and I to take him, Jack and Breanna to 7-11.

Now that Brian was satisfied with his junk food, Yvonne, and I colapsed on the couch, and were out for the count! Worn out by all of the activities!

The next morning we got up, got ready and headed out to take Yvonne home, because we all wanted to check on Lola's swelling stomach, and then headed out to have lunch and visit some more.

From there we parted ways and I headed home with the kids to Jonny. Thats when Breanna called and asked if she could spend the night with us. Um, YES of course! Now the kids are having a movie marathon with Jonny and I am in my room blogging and reading ... of course!

Its the begining of a great Thanksgiving vacation week!!

Happy Tuesday all!!!!!!!!!

My Kindle..

If you know me you know, that like my Mother, I love to read a good book! Unlike my Mother though, I am pretty picky about books.

It has to be something that can suck me in and totally take up all of my time.

You know, like a good love story, or mystery.

Because of this, a couple of birthday's ago, Jonny bought me a Kindle fire.

Oh how I love that Kindle fire!

Well, a couple of months back I went to charge my precious little device, and found that it wasn't charging!!!!!!!!!

Noooooo!!! This can't be!

How? Why? What is happening!?

Everytime I plug it in, nothing happened. This was a sad, sad, day. How will I ever find out what is happening in the land of love, and mystery!?

I'm not sure if anyone has seen my posts on Facebook, about my cousin Rachel, but she is an author! Not just any ol' author, but a REALLY great one!

I had to pick this picture, cause its so cute!
She writes fiction and fantasy. Two of my favorites! Well, while I am without my beautiful shiney book reader, Rachel is writing more and more! My Mom keeps telling me, "Oh Jen, you really need to read her latest, its SO good!!!"

You see, my beautiful, loving, mother likes to torture me sometimes... lovingly, of course.

So, time goes by and I do my housework, take the kids to school, pick them up, grocery shop, hang upside down, and soon accept the fact that life goes on without reading a book.

However, I'm sure this was God's plan, so that I would pick up the Bible more, and find some really great scripture to study.. and I did.

Then, He decided to bless me by finding Jonny's tablet (it had been lost)! So I pick that sucker up and start in on my cousin's newest creation!! My Mother was right!!! I am completely sucked in!

The problem is, when I get sucked in to such great writing, my kids find this the absolute BEST time to ask me 4,000 questions. Even better, my favorite.. "Mommy, can you come here???"

   "What do you need?!"

"Please, come here, I can't explain it, you have to see it!"

So I geeet up, from my comfy reading position to go to where they are, and see THEM in there comfy position on there bed and they will usually say:

"Look how cute Dolly is laying on my bed!!"

   Really!??!

"Yes, that is very cute... if you call me in here again to look at the dog laying on your bed, Daddy is going to get mad!"

"why?"

"Because, I am going to throw this tablet at you, and it will probably break on impact!!!" "I love you!"

They usually laugh at me, because they think I'm kidding.
So, anyway I am a very, very, happy lady, now that I have something to read again! All is right in the world.

If you like love, fantasy, and fiction, check out some of my cousin's books!!! Even better go to Amazon and type, Rachel Higginson.

Teacher conference and this dorky Mom!

Ok, So this week is a good week for the kids, because they get minimum day all week!

Next week will be a GREAT week for them, because they get the whole week off!

The reason they have minimum week is because it's that time of year for teacher confrences.

Now I feel bad, because I really don't enjoy teacher confrences. Teachers make me nervous. I mean I am representing where these kids come from. I have to try to act as sane as possible, in the 10 minutes or so that I am talking to these people. I have to act like a responsible adult.. thats a lot of work!

And lets face it, my kids are pretty low key and pretty much the same as I was as a kid.. put your head down, do the work, don't cause any attention to yourself, and get the heck outta there alive!

I like school now, just as much as I liked it then.. and thats not very much. Back then, it was worrying about getting work done, get to the swings first, don't cause too much drama with friends, and study for tests.

Now, its get them to school on time, remember to pick them up on time, are they sick enough to keep home, because if they don't go to school the teacher lectures me, fundraisers, drama with friends, helping with homework... Now that I think about it, its more hassle now than then.

Anyway, Jackson's school didn't have scheduled times with teachers, you just drop in and talk with them about how he is doing.

So first up? Language Arts, aka English.. heaven for bid I call it English! Anyway, he has two teachers for this, and they were EXTREMELY nice, and I absolutly loved them! They tell me that Jack is doing great, and they really enjoy him. Good! Great! Off to the next class!

Next, was math. Fortunatly its still known as MATH. Unfortunatly .. sorta .. his Math teacher wasn't in the room. bummer... on to the next class..

Science! Jackson loves his science class, right now they are learning about DNA, and we have had many discussions about what he's learned. I love hearing about it from him, because there is so much interest.

So, we meet with his teacher, and he is a nice guy. Unlike like the women, he talks more about grades and what they have been learning rather than how sweet, and great Jacks personality is. Good! Great! On to the next!

Next was History! Again, the teacher snuck outta the room, so we decide that all's well, and we would head out.

So, after we leave I see that we still have about an hour until I have to go to Jacie's school and meet with her teacher. So I decide that we would drive thru somewhere get something to drink, use the restroom, go by Walgreens, get gas, and finally stop by the bank.

Now, after all of the above was done, and we were in the bank parking lot I look down at the light sweater I was wearing and think to myself.. hmmm, I didn't know I had pockets on the inside of this.... oh for cryin' out loud, I've had my sweater on inside out this whole time!!

Was the guy at the gas station looking at me funny? Walgreens? The bank?

Then I start to think back to the confrences. Were those teachers looking at Jack with sympathy? Do they feel bad for him for having a Mother who's a DORK!!

I wonder if they had a discussion after I left.. "aww, did you see that she had her sweater inside out? I wanted to tell her, but I didn't want to embarress the poor lady. That poor, kid has to live with her."

Luckily, Jack was pretty forgiving and didn't hold it against me.. however he did make fun of me for awhile... but I deserve it, I guess.

Well, at least I righted the problem before meeting with Jacie's teacher. One of my kids should have a semi normal parent in the eyes of their teachers, and class mates.

                                                                          Ugh!

Happy Thursday Everyone!!
