Lincoln..

Thursday night, Jonny said "hey, after we drop the kids off at school in the morning, lets go see the Lincoln movie!"

I said "ok," to which Jack replied "NO WAY, I WANNA SEE THAT TOO!!"

Honestly it didn't really surprise me that he wanted to see this, because Abe Lincoln is a president that we have talked about with the kids. I always tell the kids that I have such a great respect for him, that he was a kind man, and very wise man. I bought Jack a book called "Who was Abraham Lincoln,"

and he has really been enthralled in it.

Anyway, he REALLY wanted to see this movie. Ok, fine we have to take this kid to see the movie about our 16th president. So after picking up the kids from school yesterday, I say to Jacie "Jace, we are going to the movies to see Lincoln, do you want to go to Breanna's and play with her while we go?" She said "No, I want to go see it too!." I continue to tell Jacie that its probably not a movie she will enjoy, and the movie is 2 1/2 hours long. "Thats, ok, I still want to see it!" Ugh, fine, then we will all go see the movie together. So off to the mall we go. We got something to eat at the food court then split up, the girls went off to the girl stores, and the boys went off to do what ever boys do.

While going to the stores, it is inevitable that you have to pass by my least favorite thing...

Kiosks!

I really HATE Kiosks. Now, not the Kiosk themselves, in fact they can be very useful. HOWEVER, as your walking by you will always, always, get harassed by the sales people.

"Ma'am, can I talk to you for a moment".. or.. "Would you like to try this lotion".. or.. "Can I curl your hair with our amazing straightening irons." "No, sorry gotta run"... "no, no thank you" and finally "uh, no thanks no one is touching my hair without an appointment."

I protectively put my arm around Jacie and guide her swiftly through the madness, and try not to look them in the eye! Once they see the white of your eyes.. your doomed!!

Its great when you finally get through, but then you realize that you have to go back through the mess to get out of there!!

Anyway we met each other back at the movie theater and bought the tickets. Once we get inside and buy popcorn, and soda's, Jonny who normally chooses middle section, end seat, decided to sit us all middle section, middle row seats.

Now, being that I have always had a VERY weak bladder, I had serious doubts about this seating arrangement, but I decided that I was going to be a big girl, and suck it up. Now about 10 minutes before the movie started I thought that it would be a good idea to visit the rest room, before I sat through a 2 1/2 hour movie. Now let me just set the scene for you..

Jonny and I were probably the youngest in the audience, not to mention our 8 and 11 year old that we drug along. Anyway, as I stood up, I saw that I would have to scooch by three elderly couples.
As I got by the first, two couples, "excuse me.. sorry... thank you.. excuse me"... you know the routine, then I came to a halt! I look up and there is a elderly man, I would guess in his late... late... 70's who had fallen asleep (at least, I think he was sleeping)..

Yes, the movie hadn't even started yet, and the man had fallen asleep!!! I couldn't get by him, because his foot was propped up and he was sawin' logs! Apparently the people sitting next to him didn't know the man, because no one nudged him, and they just looked at me like "now what ya gonna do?"

So, I scooched my way back and had to go through the other way. "excuse me," "sorry," "thank you."

The rest of the movie I didn't take even a little sip of my coke, cause I didn't want to have to wake the ol' man up! Who, I'm pretty sure slept through the whole movie!!

Then, before the movie started there was a woman who asked another woman if she could move over one seat so that she and two friends could sit together, the woman she asked replied "no"........
no??!?!........ um, ok. Who says that?? No?? You couldn't move over one seat to let those people sit together? It was just bazaar. ((sigh))

So when the movie started Jacie made it to about 10 minutes into the movie, until she was under Jonny's jacket playing on my phone. Every once and awhile she would stick her head out and say "is it almost over?" Jack was on the other side of me asking me a multitude of questions. He really wanted to understand it all. Unfortunately a history lesson in the middle of a movie is a little hard to do. We dealt with it though, and he seem to get the concept of it. Evey now and then he would lean over toward me, to tell me a little fact he read in his book. Pretty interesting.

Anyway it was an excellent movie, I really enjoyed it!

Daniel Day Lewis depicted Abraham Lincoln exactly how I would have pictured him to be. He is still a great hero to me... Lincoln, not Daniel Day Lewis, though I think he is a fine actor.

So I give it 2 thumbs up!

Besides the bathroom debacle we had a good time. Now we start a week of no school!!

Happy Saturday!!
