Ok, since we are already in July, right smack dab in the middle of summer, I got to thinkin' about all the things I like about summer. Now spring is my favorite season, but being the optimist that I am, I try to find the good things outta life.. So lets begin..
My 10 likes about Summer:
1. $1.00 sodas!!! What?!!
I only have to pay $1.00 for a drink?! SOLD! Even if I'm not that thirst I tend to buy it just because its cheap! Last year it was Jack in the Box, this year its McDonalds. Now you could go to a local Circle K establishment and get yourself a 89 cent refreshment, but heres the catch..
you have to get out of your car, walk in pour it, stand in line to wait to pay for it. I would rather fork over the 11 cents go through the drive thru, and make them do all the work!
Why? Because its hot outside, and I'm lazy!!!!!!!!!
2. Swimming in my sisters pool! Now when I say swimming, what I really mean is floating on some sort of floating apparatus and not moving a single limb.
Few things are more relaxing than floating around in water that is the perfect temperature, and shooting the bull with your sister. Sometimes my niece Katelyn joins the fun, not always though, because apparently she has a life.. not to say that Yvonne and I don't have a life, its just our priorities have changed since we were 17, we prefer to float in the pool and do nothing above all else!
3. The beach, and a book... I shouldn't really have to elaborate on that.
4. Driving at night with the windows down!
Ugh, there's nothing like cruisin' at night with the windows down and the wind blooooowin' through your hair. Granted you don't really want to do this if you are going somewhere, because you get out and your hair looks like it got in a fight with a flock of crows!
5. Songs about summer, WHILE your enjoying summer. I love summer songs, Will Smiths "summer time," "summer girls" by LFO, "In the summer time" by Adam Hicks (Thanks to Breanna for giving me that one!). Oh there are so many great summer songs to sing to while driving at night with the windows down, wind blowing in your nappy hair!!!
6. Not waking up early.
Let me just tell ya, if I haven't all ready told ya.. I am NOT a morning person.
Now, I understand that people like to get up early, for the quiet time.. nope not me, I don't function very well before 9 a.m. So not having to get up early to take the kids to school is a wonderful plus for summer!
7. Shade Trees!
It is so great on a hot day to find a shade tree and sit and just enjoy it. Especially when you take your crazy kids to the park, who think its fun to run around the playground in the blazing heat while sweat is dripping from their heads... While Momma sits under the nice shady tree whilst reading.
8. Summer storms.
How great is it to sit and listen to thunder and watch the beautiful lightening and feel warm rain. Its a wonderful thing! The smell is amazing to boot! UNLESS your jolted outta bed by the loudest thunder you've ever heard..
that is not a good thing during summer.
9. The sun setting later.
It feels like you have more of the day, and then I don't feel so bad when I sleep in!!
10. Summer is just bright and cheery.
You don't have to worry if you will be able to do something the next day, because its summer and its always a good time to do anything, at anytime!!
These are just a few things I enjoy about summer, like always I'm sure that I will think of more things and wish I woulda put them in. Summers just fun and full of goodness, and sunshine. Did I mention that I like sleeping in?
